From the beginning of the Christian faith, believers gathered in groups to learn, discuss, share—and occasionally wrestle—with the teachings of Christ.

Today at William Street, there are many ways to get involved in Bible studies and reading groups. From Sunday School classes for all ages, to the Bill Street Book Club and more. We also have youth and young adult groups. No matter where you are in your spiritual life, come as you are and find a small group of loving friends who share your interests and your desire to learn and grow in your relationship with God.

Women’s Shared Journey: the Third Chapter!  is a group for women seeking positive direction, encouragement, support, friendship, and joy in life’s later “chapters”.  As we age, women share a variety of experiences (retirement from fulfilling careers, “parenting” grown children, grandchildren, health concerns, caring for aging parents, etc.).  In this group, women offer one another a safe space to share these experiences, reconnect with old friends, and form new friendships. Please reach out to Kathi Warnock if you are interested in this group.

When: Twice a month (schedule updated and communicated the month prior)
Where:
Rotating through William Street UMC and our partner churches (location updated and communicated the month prior)

Rev. Kara Jones, Youth Pastor

With the belief that life and faith are not dichotomous, Intertwine Youth Ministry Collective seeks to offer a safe space for youth (grades 6-12) to build relationships with others, pursue a life lived in Christ, and integrate faith into daily living.  This inclusive and loving space offers an arena for youth to move closer to their identity as imago Dei while belonging to a community and participating in the ways of Jesus.  We gather for a mix of fun, fellowship, study, prayer, service, and growth.  Intertwine YMC is a collaborative youth ministry between local Christian churches in Delaware.  Intertwine YMC’s current churches are William Street United Methodist Church (28 W. William St.), First Presbyterian Church of Delaware (73 W. Winter St.), Zion United Church of Christ (51 W. Central Ave.), and Asbury United Methodist Church (55 W. Lincoln Ave.).

Prayers and Squares

When: Twice a month (schedule depends on COVID)
Where: Room 11 in the church
Contact: Kathie Burkman by email or phone for details about meeting dates and times.

The Prayers and Squares Ministry of William Street Church is a small group gathering twice a month on Sunday evenings to work on lap quilts.  That is the “squares” part of the ministry.  The “prayer” part of the ministry comes when a member of our congregation is in need of prayers and a request for a quilt is made as a tangible symbol of the prayers of our church family.  We have added the giving of a baptismal quilt on the day of a baby’s baptism.  We have prayer squares in the church that anyone can pick up to give to someone who may be in need of prayer.
