Carpenter’s Helpers

CarpentersHelpersDid you know that in Delaware 692 households were listed in the Critical Housing Needs category according to HUD? That means the housing is either substandard or the owners/renters spend more than 50% of their total income to keep a roof over their heads. So, what happens when repairs are needed? Should families have to choose between buying groceries or fixing a leaking sink?

A few years ago, Ed Kitchen had a vision of gathering people together to help those in our community who either can't afford or aren't able to perform basic household repair projects, yard work and other maintenance chores. Now thanks to Ed's vision and support of dedicated volunteers, basic handyman services are available free of charge once a month on a first-come-first-serve basis to people throughout our community.

This exciting ministry is called "The Carpenter's Helpers." People helping people with household projects is what it’s all about and we will work in conjunction with the Common Ground Free Store to reach those who need help most. The services offered by the group will cover simple household repair and maintenance work including painting, cleaning, moving furniture, basic repairs and yard work. Every need will be assessed individually to ensure the project is not beyond our skills. We are also working to establish a resource bank of skilled professionals for those projects we can’t handle on our own.

If your home is in need of minor repairs or if you need help with yard work or moving heavy items, contact the Carpenter’s Helpers by calling the church office or contacting Ed Kitchen directly at 614-578-1366.

If you would like to volunteer, the Carpenter's Helpers welcome the assistance of anyone who doesn't mind a little hard work. We also have a great need for professional contractors who would like to share their talents when we need to call in an expert. The Carpenter's Helpers tackles projects for people in need in Delaware. If you would like to join the team, please call 614-578-1366 for more details. Everyone is welcome to help our neighbors in need.
